What is an activity?

An activity is a specific request or piece of work you want to track in WIRE. It can represent an operational support request, preventive or corrective maintenance, a service visit or supervision work.

  • Project: the context it belongs to.
  • Assignees and date: who is responsible and when the work is due.
  • Status: where the work stands.
  • Details: what is needed or what was done.
  • Communication and evidence: comments and attachments that help explain what happened.

Category and priority help describe and organize work. They do not replace status or responsibility assignments.

“Visit to investigate an issue” is an activity in River Center’s project. The team records the need, assigns a person and adds a photo of what they observed. Updates stay with the work they refer to.

Different activity types may require different information or steps, but they share this same context.

A project can contain many activities. Each activity lets you follow specific work without mixing it with other tasks.

Do not confuse a support activity with a WIRE support case, either: the former belongs to the service your team delivers; the latter is for getting help with the platform.
