Who participates and what can they do?

In WIRE, administering an organization, participating in a project and being assigned to an activity are different things. Your access depends on these responsibilities, not just on having an account.

An administrator manages who belongs to their organization. A member participates with the access assigned to them.

Provider administrators also administer their projects: they can manage participants, change project status and delete projects. They do not need an additional assignment to gain access.

Client administrators have contact access to projects linked to their client; that does not make them administrators of the provider.

  • Supervisor: coordinates work, assigns responsibility and can edit project details. Managing participants or changing project status remains the provider administrator’s responsibility.
  • Operator: participates in carrying out work and records progress and evidence according to their access.
  • Contact: participates on behalf of the client, views the information available to them and communicates through comments.

Being an assignee identifies who is responsible for that work. It does not grant an administrative role. A supervisor can also be assigned to an activity.

For example, Ana can be an operator in the project and be assigned to a visit without being able to manage the project’s participants.

If an action is unavailable, check your role and the project’s status before assuming something is wrong.
